|
Product Overview
The Juniper Networks Secure Access 6000 (SA 6000) SSL VPN is designed for medium to large enterprises. It features best-in-class performance, scalability and redundancy for organizations with high-volume secure access and authorization requirements. The SA 6000 hardware platform is designed to scale to the largest enterprise deployments and to optimize application delivery. Available options include redundant hot-swappable hard disks, power supplies and fans as well as multiple GBIC-based Ethernet ports for the creation of separate physical networks and redundant or meshed configurations. The SA 6000 also features a state-of-the-art SSL acceleration chipset to speed CPU-intensive encrypt/decrypt processes and built-in compression for all traffic.

Independant Validation Claims
From February through April 2007, Independent Testing Services, powered by Network Computing Labs™ (ITS) was contracted by Juniper Networks to independently validate specific capabilities of the Secure Access 6000. The following claims of the SA 6000 were subject to open and independent testing verification:
- A single Juniper SA 6000 can sustain 3,000 concurrent HTTPS clients authenticating to Microsoft Active Directory and accessing Microsoft Outlook Web Access (OWA) content.
- Dual Juniper SA 6000s front ended by a Juniper DX load balancer can sustain 6,000 concurrent HTTPS clients authenticating to Microsoft Active Directory and accessing OWA content.
- A single Juniper SA 6000 can sustain 3,000 Juniper Network Connect (NC VPN) clients.

Results Summary
To validate the proposed claims of the SA 6000, ITS created a topology using pairs of Spirent Communications Avalanche and Reflector appliances.
Within this topology, a single Juniper SA 6000 sustained 3,000 concurrent Spirent simulated users across 5,052 concurrent TCP connections and 752 OWA transactions per second.
By adding a second SA 6000 and a Juniper DX load balancer, 6,000 concurrent Spirent simulated users were sustained across 10,098 concurrent TCP connections and 1,496 OWA transactions per second.
A Juniper Network Connect (NC VPN) with a single SA 6000 and an IXIA IxVPN sustained 3,000 concurrent tunnels and up to 200 Mbps of traffic.
